What is Reiki?
Reiki is a natural and simple
healing method. It is an ancient method of healing,
originating in Tibet and ‘rediscovered’ in the
nineteenth century in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui. Dr Usui
taught that Reiki is not just a healing technique or energy,
but a way of life, therefore encompassing a spiritual discipline.
The
Japanese word REIKI is made up of two syllables:
Rei –
the cosmic, spiritual, highest universal energy; and
Ki – the
fundamental life-force energy flowing in all living things.
In China it is called Chi, in India, Prana. It is also
known as bio-
energy.
Together these two syllables
make the word REIKI – Universal Life Force
Energy.
Reiki is mainly a form of hands-on
healing (or hands slightly raised above the body), and distant
healing. The energy travels to where it is needed the
most, going to the deepest level of the person where illnesses
have their origin. Reiki energies can be cleansing,
nurturing, balancing, transforming and empowering –
always working for the highest, greatest good of the person.
The Reiki practitioner draws
the energy in through his/her crown chakra (situated at the
top of the head) and out through the palms, into the recipient.
Reiki is a holistic way of treating many conditions - either
physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.

difficult issues in my life and discovered the doorway to

Linda, Blackfordby
The healing energy of Reiki actives
the body to heal itself, bringing about a state of deep relaxation,
cleansing the body of toxins, accelerating healing and well-being,
as well as complementing medical treatment or other complementary
therapies.
Reiki is a life-long spiritual
path, and can bring about many changes in life as blockages
are released and negative energies are cleared, making way
for the new. Each one of us creates our own path as
we walk it, but certain aids and techniques can make all the
difference in helping us find our true self.
