In The Relaxation Room you will find
tips on maintaining a healthy mind and body.
This is a simple and effective exercise to ensure that you are standing correctly. Also, a confident posture leads to confident behaviour!
- Stand up straight Be aware of the four corners of your feet, and imagine these are firmly rooted to the ground.
- Visualise a drawing pin underneath the arches of your feet and contract your thighs and buttocks to lift the thigh muscles up and away from the knees.
- Imagine there is a tail attached to your tailbone (at the base of your spine), which is very long and heavy. By pulling this area down, it will feel as though you are doing a slight pelvic tilt upwards, and it will counteract any leaning forward that you may have previously done whilst standing.
- Now visualise a piece of string attached to the crown of your head, which extends upwards to the sky, stretching your spine a little longer and making you feel taller and longer.
- You now should be standing perfectly straight, but watch out for rounding of the shoulders. To ease this, comfortably pull your shoulders back and down, and away from the ears.
And don’t forget...
- Drink at least two litres of water per day.
- Ensure you get your five portions of fruit and veg every
day.
- Breathe deeply and slowly (from your abdomen, not your
chest).
- Create positive thinking patterns to energise
and empower. Don’t know how? See the Life
Balancing Programme.
- Learn to meditate to focus and control the mind.
Remember, if you have a positive, relaxed
mind, then a healthy body will follow.
